About The Hands That Shape Tomorrow

‘The Hands That Shape Tomorrow’ is a new documentary directed by Emmy Award-winning Director Kyra Knox. The documentary gives an in-depth view of the positive outcomes on the lives of early childhood educators as they receive additional income. These outcomes extend not just to the individual but also to their families and communities.

Co-Executive Producers for the documentary, Dr. Jeremy C. McCool and Dr. Laquana Cooke, are professors at West Chester University, with a focus on digital media. Kyra Knox is well known for her film, ‘Bad Things Happen in Philadelphia’, which was executive produced by Allen Iverson.

At private screenings scheduled for early 2026, legislators, educators, non-profit leaders, and community stakeholders will have the opportunity to view the film for the first time.

“This film gives viewers an opportunity to see the real-world impact of educators and how their financial insecurities affect our society. We are excited for audiences to connect with the educators and their stories. Viewers will witness how educators' participation in an 18-month program that provided additional funding changed their lives. This film extends beyond the schools and pushes the conversation forward”, said Laquana Cooke and Jeremy C. McCool.
